Road Trip 2021 Tenessee to Utah

My trip to St George, Utah, began by traveling to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. I stopped in Tupelo, Mississippi, to view Elvis’ house where he grew up. I camped next to Graceland for two nights.

I had quite the surprise that first night. At about 2:00 AM, I heard a plane coming toward the campground. It kept getting louder and louder and louder when, at one point, I thought it was going to land in the campground.  It must have come over at a 500 feet altitude to land somewhere beyond the Interstate. That was scary – Oh, NO! Six minutes later, another airplane did the same thing. And, then another and another and another. All night long. I got no sleep that night and had to find out what was going on. Guess what?

The following morning, I researched and found that the airport Federal Express used for its hub was right across the freeway from the campground. It is the second largest airport for commercial air freight in the world. I was so looking forward to the following evening. The next night, though, was quiet because the wind had shifted in another direction, and air traffic landed on a different runway. I was blessed.  Despite the middle of the night party, I had a wonderful tour of Graceland and the museum.

I also toured Beale Street, took a riverboat ride on the Mississippi River, and traveled to Oklahoma City and Santa Fe, New Mexico. These are a few of the photos taken along the way.
